The beauty of England and her country houses. Once the pride of the nation and envy of many others, these large, wonderfully sprawling structures dominated the countrysides they once stood upon. However, with the decay of the aristocracy, the houses themselves followed suit. Some, such as Trentham Hall, were demolished. Others like Witley Court burnt to a shell.
